I didn’t look at particular units but I did see a handful on amazon and the software issue was a recurring theme.
speaking of software do you know how to make the CA app random a whole folder? -

Play all of the tracks in a folder randomly. The Marantz app did it, about the only thing it did that I liked. -

I think he's wanting to shuffle files in a folder on a hard drive
Man it's been so long since I messed with external hard drives but I'm pretty sure when using the Cambridge Connect app it does the same thing with a file no matter if the file is on a HD or a. NAS and after selecting the file/album, just select the shuffle symbol up top to the left of center and indeed it rearanges the album order. Not sure why anyone would want to do that but it will do it. Wish my Yamaha app did that too. Or maybe it does and I just ain't hip ?"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

Yeah, that x45 Pro is $5900! The prices of these streamers can get up there quick as you sort trough them. Cocktail does have streamers in the $699-$1500 price range: https://hifiheaven.net/shop/index.php?route=product/manufacturer/info&manufacturer_id=128
CD ripper aside, the Arcam rPlay at $599 is supposed to be a great streamer for the money. Some say it sounds better than the Bluesound products

@tophatjohnny I don't have nearly the collection that you have but when I don't know what I want to listen to I put it on "shuffle" then I am usually sitting there going "I forgot I had that" I suffer from O L D so everything old is new again. -
If I were to consider anything from that list, I'd look at Innuos or Aria. Aria currently does not have a US importer though.

They have an old model on their site. Maybe see if they can offer feedback about the line.
They sure are advertising a ton of brands!

Well to be honest, that’s exactly why I have them. If they are well known in the US then they probably already have a well established distributor.
One thing I have realized time and time again is brand recognition is just that - it doesn’t equate to stellar performance and vice versa.
I like that. Some of your more esoteric products, or dare I say avant-garde is appealing to me.

@tophatjohnny I wouldn't use it as a player just a ripper. I loath the all in one concept for most thing cept this thing.
-
Giving up on a ripper as I cannot seem to find anything (all in one) that’s worth a flip.
The Auralic Vega G1 however has my full attention. Just need to get through some mid year expenses. -
I never was a fan of the auralic dac. The streamers are nice and why I carried the brand.
My understanding is that the Vega G2 is a completely new implementation of their DAC. Therefore I believe the Vega G2's DAC could/should not be compared to earlier Auralic DACs. Skip the Vega G1, the G2 is the one to save up for.
"the DAC section powered by a Sabre custom chip is capable of decoding DSD up to 512 and PCM 32 bit up to 384khz. In line with Xuanqian's unique thoughts around digital design, the Sabre DAC is run without PLL (Phase Locked Loop), allowing the dual, hyper-accurate 72 femtosecond clocks, one each for multiples of 44.1khz and 48khz sample rate to manage the Vega's timing for the Tesla core, the Sabre DAC, digital inputs, display, and all other clock dependent relevant functions." -
There are other brands that do justice to music out there Skip.

So..after a week and 2 days with the ELAC DDP 2 I'm am back searching for the new whama jamma.
Why?? While the ELAC sounds fantastic...the company is struggling with software issues around DLNA But even with Air Play the sound is smooth.another issue is the DDP2 Is built around having Roon and personally I am NOT Roon Ready..
That and no app for the thing so switching is a pain in the but. Giid thing I have a 30 day trial.
So on to one I have now on hold (the Vega G2) and going to listen here in my home to a floor sample Naim N 272 on Tuesday. Some things about it intrigue me so hearing it side by side with the ELAC will be a good thing. Either way I am shipping the ELAC back on Wednesday, making it 2 weeks it has lived here. So ya don't think I dropped out of the search ..I didn't. Keeping all options open
The moon 390 didn't sound as real as the ELAC but it was slick. A tad better sounding than the Cambridge 851N but not that much. Again the ELAC is no joke in the sound department. Hats off to Peter Madnick."if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!
***************************** -
Surprised to hear that since DLNA is not a new technology.
-
Surprised to hear that since DLNA is not a new technology.
I know. Sounds so good except the songs skip and how annoying that is. They are aware of it but it's still a little primitive when it comes to ease of use. Still sounds like a champion.
Plus you got me looking at the Vega G2😀🎩"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

Great sound is nothing without control. The fact that they don't have a custom in-house ELAC app, and then with the DLNA glitches.. well that's a damn shame.
