Sealing Polk LSi7

I have a pair of LSi7's tucked away into a very tight bookshelf. It sounds very boomy so I was thinking the rear port might be causing the boominess. I was thinking about plugging the rear port and potentially the front port as well.

Won't be playing loud music, more for ambience so I don't believe the volume will be high enough to hear port chuffing.

Thoughts?

In my experience all bookshelf speaks sound terrible stuffed in a cabinet. Not much you can do to improve the sound other than get them out of the cabinet. Or buy in walls and perhaps build a box around them since that is what they are made for...

I agree... Currently renting so limited in options. Into the bookshelves they go. Not my main setup and more of for ambiance in the kitchen.

Curious whether sealing the LSi's would damage anything since they're both back and front ported.

Oh I don’t think it will damage them. Those woofers are pretty robust. I wouldn’t blast personally, but for ambiance give a a shot and see!

I have a pair of the LSi7 and a LSiC. As a data point I noticed there’s more bass if they’re all backed up against a wall also, but sound better if they’re placed almost a foot or more away from the wall.

    Just a data point.
