Hey folks, I need some help...(inside)

OK, here's the deal.
Audubon, NJ has an ambulance squad that is sponsored by the Murray-Trout VFW legion post. I think the number is 262? I'm not 100% sure. Anyway, they are the oldest running ambulance squad in the country. They even responded to the Hindenburg disaster. They have been an all volunteer squad for the duration of thier existence. It remains that way through not only a dedicated VFW post but the dedicated, skilled and hard working members of the EMS squad. These guys go out there and bust thier asses on a regular basis often covering multiple neighboring towns in addition to thier own. They give up thier time and put in thier effort to aid those who call for help. They rarely recieve a thank you and none of them ask for or expect it. They give selflessly of themselves and save lives doing it.
Given that fact, these guys have a large screen TV that is in need of repair and/or replacement. They are working on a fund raiser to do just that because the TV serves double duty as not only a teaching/training aid but also, the lone source of entertainment while on those long duty crew weekends and nights.
Now someone from the squad came to me with a broken AIWA HT reciever. I got it fixed OK and it's working again but I think they deserve to have something better than that. The problem is, I am strapped for cash due to my planned nuptuals in the near future. So I am sending out a call to the generous and kind people of Club Polk. I'm looking for a half decent HT reciever for either very cheap or a giveaway. Something better than this AIWA reciever. They will also need speakers. If anyone has anything they can spare and/or donate to help the cause, I would greatly appreciate it and make sure that the ambulance squad recognizes you for your generosity.
The bonus here is, if the gear is donated, a donation receipt can be given for the fair monetary value of the piece of equipment and since it is to a non-profit org, I'm pretty sure it is tax deductible.
I hope I am not too forward in begging like this but the generosity and character of the folks inhabiting ClubPolk runs deep and strong. I would take care of this myself but I am not able to meet the financial demand for it right now. If you can help and would like to, there are 3 ways you can contact me. Either this thread, PM's or by email. I am not looking for anything fancy or elaborate. I just want to give them something slick to say thanks for everything they do for those they help.

A noble cause!
I've got nothing around here worth donating except a blown pair of old Rat Shack speakers. Well, there is Doro's RTA 12's........:DPolitical Correctness'.........defined

What a fricking noble cause. I work with a few volunteer firefighters and they deserve any help they can get.
Let me look around. If I can't find anything they can use, I'll sell something and make a monetarial donation.Make it Funky! -
I don't have any gear...but I'd be willing to throw in a few bucks to help buy something...
If a few people on here do that, you may just end up with something decent...
I can throw in $20 to get it started... -
That's great guys! Donations are always accepted and any little bit helps. I appreciate anything anyone can do to help.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

i have 2 epicure a90's with woofers that would need refoaming,
free , but would have to ship from canada at your cost. these were an awesome speaker in their day , i bought them new , just never got around to getting them fixed , bought new polks instead, but i was going to use these for a two channel rig , if you want them there yours. -
If they're not too picky about surround modes, I got $15 sunk into a Rat Shack 110wpc Pro-Logic affair, and maybe $30 sunk into a pair of EPI 100V's.

Gathering some audio goodies tomorrow. I know for sure I'll have a pair of JBL Pro Performers that are small, but solid, and would be excellent for rear channels, or a 2nd zone.
I might have a lead on some small AR Satellites also.
Cheers,

What ever happened to this one? Did they get everything they needed? I was hoping for at least a pic of the crew and the rig.
Cheers,

since i am a volunteer EMT myself, i'm suprised i missed this thread back in the day. My Voli squad sometimes benefits from my hand me downs. if they need audio equipment for gatherings/parties and functions, i'm usually the guy they look to. It's good to see the occasional person give a flying F for what we do. The stuff you see can be brutal. After 13 years, i'm getting a little burned and will probably drop off the active roster. Will probably go back active though. riding 12 hours every friday burns into the weekends quite a bit.Living Room 2 Channel -
