Marantz SR7010 Find and Fix

I'm not big on HT but I did want to upgrade from my Denon AVR-888. I stumbled upon a Marantz SR7010 for $300 with all the accessories and docs in a thrift store. I had no way to test it out fully but I could turn it on and it did not go into protect. So I took the chance.

When I got it home, I noticed that the display would partially illuminate as soon as I plugged it in to wall power. This did not seem like a good sign. When I would power it ON, it would come up selected to random sources. I looked up instructions to do a factory reset (Press Power Button while simultaneously pressing GAME and A-DSX). It wouldn't initialize. I also couldn't get any sound out of it. I figured I just bought a boat anchor.

I don't know where I got the idea but I unplugged it and held the 3 buttons for reset while plugging it into wall power. BINGO! It initialized to the factory settings.

I haven't hooked it all up yet but I did play part of a DVD through it. The picture looked very good and the sound through the headphone jack was very good.

Maybe I won after all

Played music through my RTA-11TL's all day and sounds great even straight with no adjustments.

I'm not sure how I made this a question.

This thing is awesome and complete overkill for my system. However, I think I would have been hard pressed to find a lesser AV receiver at the price I paid. It might open up an entirely new rabbit hole for me.

If it's overkill for you then I'll be nice and take it off your hands
