Sweet score. I love mine. More than any other speaker I have or have owned.
Get them positioned a little better and they should sound even better. -
I was just making sure they worked, he doesn’t have a good space for them, mine however are positioned perfectly down to the last 1/32” semectrical and straight.Home theater:

I saw a pair of RTA12's like your dad's find for 250.00 (I think) here in Wilm. NC. years ago. That's the only pair I think I've seen for sale here since I've been looking for Polk speakers and I didn't have a lot of money then to go look at them.
For 50.00, I'd make some room by kicking out some cheap pair of some other brand to the road!
I had a chance though! Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
I think the RTA12B smoked my SDA SRS 2. That's why I no longer have the SRS.

Man, that says a lot for the RTA12's! Did you use the interconnecting cable with those SRS2's.
I think I read years ago the RTA12 was Polks' best non-sda speaker besides the Monitor 7s.
I can't imagine liking another Polk above SRS's but I do know SDA is not for everybody and also, playing very loud is not what most people do.
I don't rock out much...but when I do...
My neighbor said he heard me playing "Stranglehold" a couple of times. And he lives across the street at an angle 2 doors down. Maybe he was walking his dog. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
My neighbor said he heard me playing "Stranglehold" a couple of times. And he lives across the street at an angle 2 doors down. Maybe he was walking his dog.
One night when I was home alone, I turned up the volume especially loud. My neighbor texted me about ten minutes later (he lives what would be 2 blocks away in a city) and said "Pink Floyd's WYWH? Nice dude, great album. Didn't know you liked rock too." We then spent a while discussing all things music.
I briefly cranked it to the same level again to see what kinda output I was getting, 98-103 DB. I woulda thought that it would just sound stressed and muddy that loud, but it was so clear and clean that it didn't sound that loud; rather, more full and well rounded. Hasn't been that loud again since, to avoid bothering neighbors. Oh, and hearing damage. -
Sweet! Can you change your avatar back to the pointed headed dude?
-
I honestly haven’t cranked mine up much because every time I want music on or a movie real loud the kids start whining (like we don’t have 3 other rooms to go in or go outside) or my wife says it’s too loud.
I turned on the 2017 power rangers opening scene on blu ray playing through my Denon AVR3100 and I had it on turned 70 and it sounded glorious! Of course I got the same complaining and whining from everyone haha it sounded like you were in an actual theater.Home theater:

Dad actually was reluctant to give me his RTA12’s only because he had just got those sda’s. He’s probably cannin those some time haha

Yes, I had the OEM cross cable on my SRS 2. They were mint condition.
If you have never heard the 12b or C you dont know what you are missing. I decided to drop the SRS 2 even before I recapped my 12b. They are a really great sounding speaker. I swear, these are keepers and unless I win the lotto they ain't going anywhere. -
I run mine pretty hard sometimes. They do very well with a lot of power. But their finess can be had at low volume too.
-
With my system on 7 channel stereo with 3 amps and with 3 10 inch subs on one of those amps.. It was loud and clear. I think I could have gone a little higher.

I think i had the RTA12b rolled off at 80hz and the rest of the speakers at 100hz to get it that loud and clean. Excluding the sub ofcourse. I could see I saw it as high as 115 db. Just could not get the screen shot.
So.... have you got them set up right and listened to them? They are well worth upgrading the crossovers. If you need or want a list of what I used I'd be happy to provide it. -

This is off topic, but I'll never forget when my dad cracked up a pair of klipsch chorus 2 speakers. We were using a RadioShack dB meter, once it crossed like 120db, the meter just blanked out or had dashes. No reason to listen anywhere close to that loud lol
Also remember c weighting is drastically different than a weighted.
Congrats on the solid find!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
