You (the OP) could try flagging (reporting) your own post; it might go directly to someone monitoring forum content. That person might be the aforementioned @KenCustomerService or somone else, but there might (?) still be someone at the other end of a 'post report'.

Sorry that 'we', the end-users of the forum, cannot do better for you at this time, @djclongisland! :( Things on the forum seem to be in a state of change.

So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

  • @mhardy6647,

That will not go to myself, I no longer work on the Polk side or the customer service side of the business. I am the Brand Manager for Definitive Technology. We are in transition right now, so there are no moderators from Sound United on the Forum currently. We will be adding someone soon.

Ken S left us a a moderator a few weeks ago and we have not filled his position yet.

I can't sleep. And when I can't sleep, I solve the world's problems. I have an idea on how this place should be moderated. I don't think this has ever been done as long as I've been here. The one day time out. There were a couple times years ago that it would have been best if I just walked away for a day. Maybe I was in a bad mood, maybe the other person was. I'm not a fan of the 30 day or permanent ban. I think a 30 day time out is extreme and causes more discourse and upheaval than the reason for the timeout. All the petition threads, the changing of the avatars in support of the fallen. If two people are going to get into it on the forum they should be put in a one day timeout. It doesn't have to be an exact 24 hours, but until the next day, just enough time to cool off. To not show favoritism, the mod should put both, or all people involved in the one day time out. Just a day, so no need for the entire forum to rebel. And there should be no limit to how many times a person gets a one day time out. No rule that says after three times you get a 30 day time out. It would be over so quick that most people on the forum wouldn't even know it happened.

Also, if we get a new moderator, one that has never been here before, I can see them taking things out of context, or not understanding when we are joking, because they don't know individual personalities. How many people gang up on Russ here? A new guy isn't going to know when you're joking. Putting someone in a 30 day time out for a misunderstanding isn't what is best for the forum.

There should be two moderators. One for subwoofer and soundbar problems, and one to keep people in line. I'm one of the people that got burned by buying a PSW125, they should have issued a recall on that amp plate. Period.

@Hermitism I wasn't sure if I should click Insightful or Agree, so I'm saying I would check both if Vanilla allowed that. Only thing is, it seems there's no one in authority here to even consider your ideas... LOL

    Just don't click "Flag"!

The funny thing is when the other Audio Pub forum was happening for awhile, a couple years ago, there was no limit to what you could discuss in a private section of the forum. But everyone got along and it wasn't a forum of all like minded people. I remember Tony, John and myself discussing "hot topics" and we didn't agree on everything, but it was like a group of friends having a discussion over dinner or drinks. It never got out of hand, there was always respect, no one ever got a time out. In fact, I only remember one post that the mods deleted, and it was because of extreme nudity. But maybe that was due to less members being there. The more people you have, the more likely it is to have disagreements. I completely understand not being able to discuss certain topics here on an audio forum. Everyone is passionate about their beliefs and opinions. I think a one day time out could remedy an issues that might pop up here, as long as no favoritism is shown. For example, I'd always be putting msg in a time out. If verb and Larry get in a heated discussion on how to build 'The Larry Rack 2.0", I'd put msg in a time out. If Jesse and a new member get into it over biamping... msg gets a time out! I think the root of all turmoil here can be traced back to Scott's animated gifs.

Over here, everyone complained about the heavy hand of the moderators and now everyone complains that there is no moderators. I think this place has held up well the past couple weeks as it is. We do need someone to take care of questions we don't have answers to, like sub amp plates and soundbars. And someone to delete spam posts.
