That said, I am not sure exactly when the Super-Velcro attachments went away. Cosmetically the grilles are identical (on the front) -- although the dimensions may differ (who knows?).

Dimensionally they are close, but the edge radius is completely different. If my collection serves me right, the change happened when Polk shifted to the doped PR (still using silver baskets), I have 4 pair, 3 of which are peerless units and each of those are different eras.

Mine have the 10" coated PRs but the box was labeled Model 7 (not 7A); see photo above. I have to dig out the serial numbers some time. (they are boxed up, actually).
I don't have a pair of original morph Model 7 with the 8" uncoated paper PR -- wish I did, for completeness.

FWIW -- and totally irrelevant to this thread -- I do have a pair of original-style 10s (although not in great cosmetic shape; they work fine).

Like most of the small hifi companies in those days, real-time changes in production were commonplace; thus that popular specifications subject to change without notice disclaimer that was usually found on the product literature for -- pretty much everything.

My M7C's used grill covers like that. Don't know what other models did. -
