    FWIW -- I got the "Howdy, Stranger" followed by the little white box feature on this Wintel laptop moments ago -- I just clicked on "Home" and all was well... but it's odd and irritating (and symptomatic of something being wrong in Vanilla space). :(

    I couldn't get logged in this morning. The box consisted of a small "x" where the username and password go. I just kept refreshing the page and after around 30 refreshes I was logged back in automatically.
