Is it just me or...

Did we lose the "EDIT" function?
I've written some drivel lately that I wanted to rejigger a bit, and I can't seem to.

Is it a glitch or a sea change?

Inquiring minds want to know.

:)

well, it's present on this thread... so, no.
But I have posts to one thread recently that, even right after I made 'em, didn't show the edit button on the top right.

    Weird stuff, man...

I think we lost the edit function, and with all the spell check errors I experience, it will be missed.

I can proof read something 10 times, but once I post it, I'll see the error! I made a bad one last week, I used "to" instead of "too". Noticed it a couple hours later. My elementary school English teacher rolled over in her grave.

    it could be a glitch.
remember the loss (for at least some of us) of italics functionality (even if the tags were typed into the text) for quite some time a while back? They did, suddenly, start to work again at some point.

... or it could be a deliberate deletion of the edit function, to eliminate any chance for revisionist history. I am not a big fan, if that's the case (FWIW).

I will say this, though: in terms of catching typos, there is a preview button, which can at least serve to show, e.g., if one mistakenly uploaded the wrong image :#
The "Preview" is a little clunky, but it does work.

Mark, I always had a sneaking suspicion that was the administrations way of putting you in a time out. They figured that removing your italics button would be more of a punishment than actually banning you for a period of time. Someone must have taken offense to your landscape pictures or something.

It is indeed difficult to live without italics.

Edit appears to be back (or maybe was never gone?), however you need to know it is in the upper right hand corner and hover the mouse there and it will appear. It is still set to 1 hour.

Yes, edit was only transiently MIA (thankfully, for those with proofreading skills as abysmal as mine).

  • WOW!! I've altered, edited, corrected, revamped, and simply deleted my previous posts at an online forum that came out wrong... But "rejiggered" isn't a situation that I've heard of until now for remediating a faux pas in a prior post. THIS IS A GREAT SITE! :-)
