i dont like the L5s, the MOMOs are a better sub and cheaper than the Type R's, the old kicker comps used to be pretty nice...im not sure about the new ones, never heard the orion before, rockford makes some nice SPL subs but dont seem to be turning any heads in the SQ department
the shiva is a nice sub but ive only heard it with a 200 watt amp going to it
i have the mm124s so i can vouch for them, for $180 at sounddomain, they really are a steal
shiva or mm124, i dont think you can go wrong

i'm feeling lazy - go to www.adireaudio.com for power ratings (mobile audio->drivers)

Kicker comps used to kick butt (10+ years ago), but I have no idea where they stand now. For that low of a price I would try to get an amp upgrade for a little more $.

ya i was lookin and its not the kicker i though it was the comp i would rather have the comp vr and the amp only put out 300 watts to each sub.i think i might go with a profile amp.look nice put out some power and arnt not alot of money

i'll just let you know my opinion on kicker, i owned an s12l5 for about 2 or 3 months, it was in a 1.5cu ft sealed box

it was my first subwoofer, and i was powering it with a rockford fosgate 500s(500 watts rms), i guess i was happy, but this was the first subwoofer that wasn't some $20 pos that i'd ever heard in a car. Anyways, after having it for like 2 or 3 months, horrible burning smell, the voice coil burnt out, i had bought the sub off ebay, so no warranty, the sub was gone; and i'm not hte only one, lots of people seem to blow them easily

about 3 weeks ago i picked up a polk MM12, and all i can say is i ahve no FUC@&ing idea wtf i bought that kicker for.... my kicker, had absolutely NO response except for when i was playing ghetto rap.... when i put some rock, even hard/heavy rock, it didn't do a thing.... now my momo on hte other hand, it really doesn't matter the song, it hits, and it hits hard. I would highly recommend the momo mm12, it really is a great sub, and will kick that kicker's **** unless your planning on putting ur kickers in a HUGE ported enclosure, in which case you will have basicaly no sq, but a ton of spl

i have heard good things about the alpine type r's, but my friend has two 10" type r's in a custom sealed enclosure with 300 watts rms going to each of them, i even installed the amp and stuff for him, and i really am not impressed, my one 12" MM12 blows away his dual 10's, and when i tell him what i spent on my little mm12, and then he figure out he's spend several $100's on his subs he gets really pissed

i duno about hte otehr subs, but my vote goes for the polk
