Speaker Insulation around ceiling.....!!!

Hello everyone,,
I'm planning on installing a couple RC80i speakers in my bedroom ceiling. Above the bedroom is an attic. I'll have access to the top of the speakers in the attic area. Right now there is just fiberglass insulation up there. After I install the speakers, what should I have around the speakers in the attic area? Should I just put the insulation right over the top, or leave the speakers uncovered, or build some sort of box around the speakers? If the latter, what size box?

    Get a cover for the speakers, like a breathable bag, then apply insulation over top like normal

    I always recommend backer boxes. You can build them yourself pretty easily. The issue is two fold.

    First, sound proofing. If you don't have a backer box, you are essentially playing the speakers in the room you intended and whatever room is on the other side of that wall.

    Two, predictability. Backer boxes make your in wall speakers more predictable. Designers know the dimensions of the backer boxes that they offer so they design the speaker to perform well with that space as their backing. The designer has no clue what the volume of space is inside your wall so there is no telling what the response of the speaker will be. But the cabinet volume definitely affects the sound.

    WOW an attic would make a big speaker box. Hope you don't get rats up there.

    Just get some 1/2" plywood or MDF and make a box using the rafter studs as an outline.
    When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.
