Cheap (less expensive) speaker stand modified

I’m hoping that within a month I’ll have a pair of Blumenstein speakers in the house to run on the BH Stereomore. My desired height is 28” and before jumping into a lot of $$ and since my wife was looking for a suggestion on a Christmas gift I (we) bought from Amazon.
Metal tubes - straight out of the box the ring like bells. I filled two of the three tubes (one is for running cable and has a sizable hole at the base) with sand and that helped but... nah.
I’ve wrapped one with jute rope. Now it just thumps when rapped on and is sonically pretty inert.
Guess how much rope that took!

So when I burn off the fuzzies I should record it? That can happen.Aaron

I just figured that jute or hemp or whatever it is must be kinda flammable. Flammable + fuzzies (large surface area) + torch = youtube-worthy fun if anything goes wrong, tight?

Just curious, what kind of knot did you use to tie it off? Friction - wrapped it figure 8 ish at the bottom, still considering the top.
If it loosens up I can fix thatAaron

This thread inspired me to try some alternative "stands" for the ELACs I've been playing with. Herewith, I will document my sincere thanks for that (no kidding!) and also report that the presentation of the ELACs was much improved by the most recent experiment!
I'll post a photo of the provisional stands in my ELAC thread anon.

Very cool! When I first looked at this thread, I was struck by the aesthetics of your creation, but then read it again, and you mentioned that the rope actually works as a dampening device! Not to go all @Viking64 on you but I believe the more appropriate term is damping. Dampening is rarely a good idea for hifi equipment
sorry!
PS I realize that damping and dampening can, in extremeis, be used interchangeably (it's on the internet) -- but as far as I am concerned, the latter term involves getting wet, first and foremost!

And here I was all worried about the athletics of my creation...Aaron

heh, I only just now noticed that hot little topless Yamaha lurking behind the before stand on the right.

so...you like little topless yamaha's? That one is getting a matching friend. I broke that one, recapped and lost some voltage somewhere so it's twin is going to be used for troubleshooting.Aaron

I wouldn't admit this just anywhere -- but I couldn't ID it based on the bit I could see. Is it, maybe (???), a CR-620? It's not a CR-450, is it? I don't have a CR-450. Heck, I don't have a CR-200/400/600/800, either (come to think of it).
Now, mind you, I was too lazy to go look at the pile of 'em upstairs
-
CR-620 it is. I think I lost a voltage regulator. I can find schematics for it but they're pretty blurry. I figure if I have a twin I can figure it out. I have sound but only if volume is around 3 and then it's very quiet.
There's a Marantz here topless also - lost a channel recapping that one but I think it's just a loose wire.Aaron

I don't think I have any original paper docs for the CR-620; i.e., you've probably got whatever I've got.
Nice little receiver -- and, of course, I am not at all biased.
Sorry for the transient thread tangent

Several days ago I avoided the temptation to chide you for posting in this thread previously without making note of Yamaha--but I'll chuckle now that you've drawn attention to it!Jay

I saw a web site (a year or more ago) where they showed all kinds of objects that people wrapped rope around. They looked pretty good too. It was that artsy d.i.y. web site I think. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
