polk rti4's or rm6700 package?
Hi:
I currently have a csi3 that I planned to pair with rti4's up front and my old Clements bookshelves for rears. I got my tax refund today and went to go buy the rti4's. Well, I got to the store and they have a blow out sale on the rm6700 package - without sub - for the same price as the rti4's. Now I'm wondering what the difference in sound quality would be between my original setup plans and the rm6700's. The setup is for an apartment - 13.5' x 20' x 9' high. Please let me know what setup I'd be happier with. I've auditioned both in the store - without my own bookshelves of course - and was more than pleased with both.
I'm not enough of an audiofile to necessarily hear the difference between them. Thoughts, ideas, and all suggestions are more than welcome.
Thanks,
Jeff

The RTi4's will match your CSi3 center and will give you better sound overall.

Hi:
So what are the differences between the 2 setups that the bookshelves will sound better versus the satellites? From what I have read I would guess better clarity on the centre channel, deeper bass on the fronts and more oomph all around, but my ears can't be very good because I just can't tell what's what when I go to audition them. It all sounds like sound to me. I would like to get the better setup - if not for me then for my wife - and for guests and the like. So is this a good summary of the benefits?
Eternal thanks from a partly tone deaf newb,

Yep, you pretty summed it up...
It's physics basically...you can't get as good of sound out of something that fits in the palm of your hand as a full bookshelf speaker, all other things being constant.
Having said that, I'll share this: (I'm sure others will disagree)
Don't buy anything more than what your ears can hear. If you can't hear the difference between a $500 system at Best Buy and a $5000 system at Ultimate Electronics, then buying the more expensive system to me is a waste of money...spend the extra $4500 on something else that matters more...that's my input...
However, it looks like you're also considering how it will sound to other people, which basically negates my point above, but you get the basic idea...
