Also noticed a hefty power up and shut down thud through the speakers.
Mute your pre when this happens, or turn it off first when powering down. Certain amps will do this IME.
That wet spot looks like the cap is slowly leaking. No idea about the gold stuff on the solder joints. Could be old flux?
