I have the opportunity to buy a pair of either of these. They are beautiful and unmolested.
I was thinking of putting these in a dedicated theater for movies and some multi channel music. They will be paired with RTA-11TL's cc.
They will be powered by a pair of Emotiva XPA-1 mono blocks.

Would love to hear any and all opinions on these two sets of speakers.
Thanks in advance.

    RTA not RTI.

I had 15TLs and liked them a lot but as Skip says, placement is critical and most of the time, folks can't place them the way they need.

The 3.1s on the other hand are a bit more forgiving for placement and will provide a much bigger soundstage.

  • I've had both as well and loved them both. SDA's have called me back again and again over the years..................I guess it depends on what "sound" you are looking for. The 15's have an open and wide soundstage on their own. Both have excellent bass capability. Obviously the SDA's will blow the 15's out of the water when it comes to a wide soundstage (dependent of course on program material) You might need to move the 15's out from the wall behind them to get the bass right. The SDA's will need to be away from sidewalls in order to get the SDA imaging right.

    Pick one.
  • Or pick them both, one can never have too many speakers. :D [/quote]

3.1s up front, 15s as surrounds.

NO ONE READ THAT HE IS USING MONO BLOC'S

That means the SDA without the cable unless he has one or two things to take advantage of that.

I'd lean toward 3.1 as they are not easy to come across in good shape at times. Both are good speakers, but you are losing out by using mono's with SDA unless you build a dreadnought or have an AI-1 cable. If you already have the 11TL then the 15's would match better.

that would be beneficial for the 3.1TL's use the mono's on the others.

Pit has very good advice. I'd take it.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

  • Do you have any pics of either pair?
What kind of deal would you be getting on them? (if it isn't too rude to ask such a question)
