when is it appropriate to use 1" MDF over 3/4", or cabinet birch over MDF? i.e. is there a certain power level at which it is beneficial to use 1" MDF? this assumes proper internal bracing regardless of powerhandling, naturally.

i would say anything over 1000 watts to go with 3/4" birch
    anything of 2000=1"birch
1"MDF is too heavy IMO when 3/4" birch is better wood, lighter, and just slightly more expensive
really--i can build a box to stand up to 2k watts rms out of 3/4"MDF with a crap load of bracing
bracing is key no matter what size box/sub/amp
