Hey. I came across this website that gave a brief review of the rti8's, but said in the beginning of the article that they were discontinued. Can anyone confirm that Polk discontinued the rti8? If so why??

The RTi8's debuted in October, so it will probably be another four or five months before they are discontinued, I would guess.

Geesh . How long were the 70's around before they were discontinued? seems like a pretty short time before making another change doesn't it? I have seen some new models being sold as clearence shortly after Christmas at CC and asked myself the same question and couldn't come-up with a reasonable answer.

I called Polk's customer service. The guy i spoke to said as far as he knew the rti8's were NOT discontinued at all. Far from it, as he kept reiterating how they were new speakers so that wouldn't make sense. According to him, a speaker series' typical produciton cycle is about 2 years long. So we shouldn't expect production to stop or any new rti's before fall of 2005. However, I still don't know why that website might have said that. Thanks guy.

According the press releases, the RTi70's came out in April '02, so they were out for 18 months before the RTi8's were released. I'm not sure when the RT800i's came out.
