Any indoor shuffleboard owners out there?

I finally sold my pool table that was sitting between my SDA's. Needless to say, what an improvement in sound! Had a bit of sellers remorse but the thing was just collecting dust as my billiards playing friends just are not around anymore.

So the plan is to pick up a 16' or 18' shuffleboard. This is a game that most people can play, even after a few beers. I was was always nervous when people shot pool after a few enhanced drinks fearing a ripped cloth.

So doing some research I've found that there are 1.75" and 3.0" high butcher block boards. The latter is considerably more $$ of course but I wonder if for home use it's worth the extra expense?
Yep, my name really is Bob.
Parasound HCA1500A(indoor sound) and HCA1000(outdoor sound), Dynaco PAS4, Denon DP1200 w/Shure V15 Type V and Jico SAS stylus, Marantz UD7007, Polk L600, Rythmik L12 sub.

Personally I'd rather watch paint dry. :)

I though shuffle board was a myth to make people feel good about wanting to do absolutely nothing.

Money's on table. The drunks would slip and fall on a floor model :p

I always liked the automatic bowling tables. But I was a kid back then.
Here's one cheap + another antique table game. I know they need looking at but just saying.

Watching a game would be about as exciting as watching the grass grow, but playing is actually fun and just about anybody can be half way decent at it once you get the hang of it. A good drinking game too.

I've looked on and off for a year or so. Contrary to popular belief, it is a lot of fun if you get people who know how to play.

There is always shuffleboard.net. they have 100s of tables to choose from. The sky is the limit in the realm of possibility.

    Thoughts of DIY?

An 8' sheet of 3/4" Birch is about 50.00 or less at Lowe's.

Maybe you could double up on the table and make the legs out of some solid maple or oak boards. Polyurethane the top with 4 coats... maybe for a slick top. Or epoxy it like that video in the other thread showed how to do.

Sounds like a fun and easily doable project. B)
