What is the point of a 13.2 Marantz pre Amp. What is the most channels a movie will play? 7.1?

Right now with Atmos (*.*.4), the pre can control 11 channels with 2 additional LFE channels. The extra 2 channels are for left and right wide. Or it can be used for a second stereo source and room.

I can't count past 2 channel.The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
It is imperative that we recognize that an opinion is not a fact. -
It’s not just Dolby Atmos. It’s also DTS X and more importantly Auro 3D-which is where all of the extra channels come in. Btw all of the above height enabled, object based surround formats are capable of far more than just 13 channels. Future proofing is a good explanation, however it doesn’t go far enough. I would love to have this particular preamp myself.
