    I grew up in what was once rural San Diego County. From my back yard in Carlsbad was open field to Escondido about 30 miles. When the Coyotes came close to the neighborhood some of the men and older kids would go hunt them. No Coyotes for a year or two. I go to go on a couple hunts, thin em out a bit.

    Now nobody can hunt them, they are all over the place in the neighborhoods. Dogs can't be left out in yards overnight or they are dinner. Good luck finding a stray cat or dog in this area. It sucks when I'm going to work at 5:30 am I dodge about one a week running across the road.
    When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

    I had a pit that loved everyone and everything EXCEPT coyotes. She would stand out in the field and patiently wait for them to come up to her wondering if she was food... Then she would grab one of them and slam them down to the ground like a pro-wrestler. The others would run away like What just happened! That dog's nuts! RUN! Then I wouldn't see any more for months... Very smart animals.

    Dogs know....what other animals are a predator, and which aren't. They behave accordingly to that natural instinct in much the same way we humans do.
