No more white walls

As of Friday, we now do not have a single wall in our house that is white. I get in a rear end collision so what do I do, paint.

Friday after work we painted the living room and entry way and applied a second coat Saturday morning. All our doors, molding, base boards are Ultra Pure White Behr. All paints are Behr except the Master Bedroom which is Ralph Lauren.

Here's the break down:

Kitchen
Sage Green (medium dusty green)

Livingroom / Hall / Entry
Light beige / sandy color

TV Room
Light Beige base coat with a medium brown rag roll top coat

Bathroom
Medium / dark brown

Daughter's Room
Light Yellow

Master Bedroom
Ralph Lauren River Rock medium blue

Master Bath
Light gray

I cannot stand white walls, they are so boring. Nothing like good earth tone colors. Now, the weekend shopping to re-furnish the living room.

Anyone else have color in their house?

Oops, how can I forget:
HT Room
Black

    Not really.

Our abode's interior is 'Coyote Beige' with white trim. I've been pondering getting my paint on though, especially in the man cave.

Paint, and some cool lighting on dimmers.

    Cheers,

I convinced my wife to have white walls for every room in the house. My argument was that our personal preferances change constantly, furniture and decor changes, and colors go out of style. But more importantly, I didn't want to paint any rooms in my house. I told her to be creative with the use of pictures, drapes, carpet color, etc., but keep the walls white.

If you enjoy painting and do it well, go for it. Hope you and your family enjoy it for years to come.

P.S. -- one day I plan to have a HT room. It's gonna be painted deep purple!
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

My bedroom at home is a Sherwin Williams color. It's called Disco Orange. It's bright...REALLY bright! Like orange construction cone bright! It's closer to a Chevy orange for those of you who know what that color is. My dad painted it that color when I was 3 years old. We went to the paint store and he said to pick the color I wanted my room. So, I picked that color and the guys said "You're gonna need sunglasses at midnight! They'll see your room down the block!" My response: "I don't care." So yes, my room at my parent's house is Disco Orange. It works well with the medium maple stained baseboards and door trim and the brownish-orange carpeting. Oh and the drapes with a pattern of pictures of cars.

    Yes, it's odd, I know.

All our kitchen lighting and bedroom lighting is on dimmers. The only lighting that's not is the living room, hall and bathrooms.

I recently installed all can lighting in the kitchen and rope lighting (on a dimmer) across the top of all the kitchen cabinets.

I cannot wait to get my furniture shopping on, I love that stuff. Looking for dark wood antique style couch and chairs with end tables, a chest maybe, some odds and ends decor and lots of candles with some deep green plants.

Oh yeah, do we have color. The only white rooms we have in our house is the attic Kids playroom) and the basement (Kids play room). And that's just because Mary Ann hasn't decided what she want's to do/have done.

Every other room has some type of treatment. TV room was just done with a pale green Venetian plaster and she had an artist come in and paint traveling wisteria. I just built a library in the office and refinished all of the wood to a colonial maple. the walls we painted in a rich, dark green ( the ceiling we did paint white, but we had to for light). Looks nice...

She has this thing with that type of stuff, and I have to say that it's all pretty tastefully done, but it's driving me to the poor house:o

No, really it's a labor of love. It feels good, ya know???

Color, oh yeah I got color. When we had our house built I told my wife that I was painting the bedroom yellow. Not Bright-Assed Canary Yellow, but a light shade of yellow, kinda of a light-light-light yellow. So of I go to the store to pick up samples and we talked about it and looked at more samples. Finally settled on a "Pale Cow Slip." "What the EFF is Pale Cow Slip?" you ask. Well folks after painting the room I can honestly say that Pale Cow Slip is another way of saying Bright-Assed Canary Yellow! The finished color turned out nothing like what we expected. It's bright, like stare into the sun until your retinas boil bright.

I'm gonna repaint it this summer.....anybody ever heard of a color called Flesh Eating Talcum Mist?

We had a few rooms turn out that had to be repainted. First was our daughters, she wanted a pinkish / purple color. So we said OK, you pick it, we'll paint it. Turned out way, way too dark. We had to put on 2 coats of primer and then two coats of the light yellow to cover that dark disaster.

Then came the TV room. First paint (my wife picked) was a brownish / pinkish color. Looked like week old barf. That got repainted with the Faux finish within days.

Other then that, every other room turned out just as planned.

At least they are light colors. They are easy to paint over.
