Looking for a solid $250 dvd player

I'm a soon to be college graduate looking to build a ht in my new apartment.
I've been quite unimpressed with my older model Sony 5-disc's video and audio quality, and i'm looking to buy a solid 5-disc player such as an Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, or something else similar. I'm looking to spend around $250... but it just seems that a ton of the reviews on these products are contradictory.
Can someone please help me find a solid audio and video performer that won't break on me like all my cheap friends' $85 DVD players?
Also, am I better off buying a single disc player than a 5 or 6 disc changer?

Try the single disc Denon 910. It appears to be free from all the bugs.

The Pioneer SACD/DVD-Audio player is good as well, it retails for $150. I can't remember the model number off hand.LSi 9/C/FX

www.ecost.com have refurbed Denon 910 for $130 and 1600 for $220. All backordered but they said 1600's should be coming in at the end of the month.
