Monitor 70's

What's the difference between the 70's and the series 2? Will they still match? Also was thinking using one as center channel, laying on it's side. Think it would work? Thanks

Would it work to lay one on its side? Yes. Would it sound (or even look) good? IMO, no.

Simply put, they're not engineered to perform that way.

The front of the speaker (if the grill is off) on some Monitor 70's are silver and some are black. I'm not sure if that translates exactly to series 1 vs 2, but something to look out for.
