Junk shop system...

Junk system that has been sitting in an extra bedroom.
I have 2 shops & this is my "finishing shop" (long story).
Got sick of listening to my system in the living room from my workbench (2 rooms away).
Had a pair of Clif Design 4" coaxials with aimable (helps with imaging mounted on a flat back wall) 3/4" silk domes (from a Toyota truck install) 4Ω, sitting for years & years unused.
Harmon Kardon AVR 300 sitting for years unused.
Adcom GCD-700 CDP.
Yamaha 7" powered sub.
I got crazy & installed a dedicated line from the breaker box, installed a silver/rhodium Oyaide IEC input in the Adcom (DIY Flavor 4 pc) & Furutech Copper male plug on the HK.
Now I have my own system on my bench!
You would be surprised how good it sounds nearfield.
Im off for 5 DAYS this Labor Day Holiday & decided to kick back with a few beers today and put this junk system thru its paces!
Its enjoyable, & hopefully will last for a few years.

I appreciate a person who makes do with things laying around. Lord knows I've done it most of my life.
If it sounds acceptable, COOL.Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Bare CD's stacked on top of bare CD's. You can do better than that.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I like your risers. Cheap and they do let the receiver breathe.
What is a Polk SDS400?Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
I really like that era of HK receivers. Can't remember model I had, but it was a beast.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden

I think that series of receivers are dependable.
The ones that came after that, well....

The OP wrote (correctly) that the tweeters are aimable but I (incorrectly, and not uncharacteristically) read that as amiable.
We could use more amiable hifi equipment.
On topic. It all looks fine to me

Thanks for clarifying.
I JUST hooked up an old pr. of Mon. 4's for an old friend to hear.
I think he was SHOCKED at how good they sounded. I myself was shocked when I heard them. They have the fish-eye tweeters in them too. But they sounded smooth.
Very nice little bookies for sure! With an upgraded cross-over, I'll bet they sound like 1000.00 speakers. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
The original morph of the Monitor 4, with the Peerless silk dome tweeters, to my ear is a fine sounding little loudspeaker. Someone brought a pair over here when we were first up here in NH and I hooked 'em to a Yamaha CR-1020. Now, a CR-1020 is rather more than these little loudspeakers would've been paired with when new, but the combination was pretty darned satisfying to listen to.
No photos, unfortunately.
(borrowed image from google, apparently originating from the Polk forums -- my apologies to its original poster!)

I'm still willing to buy a Peerless tweeter pr. of M.4's if I see them somewhere around here for a cheap price.
Those, and all the other Monitors with peerless will have a place here for sure! Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
I've been looking for some monitor 4's with the peerless tweeters too Tony. I've come close but usually they're too far away to make it worth the drive.
The only peerless tweets I own reside within some monitor 7's I found a couple of years ago.
One pair is infinitely better than zero pairs.

Y'all aren't the only ones after a pair... I have 5s 7s and 10s, missing the 4s

Have you compared those 3 different style M7's to see how similar or not they sound? Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

I guess Polk sold more 5's and 5Jr.'s than 4's.Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
