I thought as a way of commemorating the career of such a musical icon I would post a listing of her recordings that have garnered the highest reviews. This is only intended as a very general guide for listeners who have not already assembled their favorites and might want to know what to select. These are regarded as her finest, the five star albums:
I Never Loved a Man (the Way I Love You), Atlantic 1967
Lady Soul, Atlantic 1968
Amazing Grace, Atlantic 1972
30 Greatest Hits, Atlantic 1985
The Queen of Soul, Rhino/Atlantic 1992
These are considered the next tier, the four star albums:
Songs of Faith, Checker 1964
Aretha's Gold, Atlantic 1969
One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, Arista 1987
I hope this is helpful information and that it might encourage the exploration of her artistry.

Thanks Ken. I have her Amazing Grace on CDs. If I am remembering correctly, that one is a double CD set of live gospel concerts she did over the course of a couple evenings.
And a couple of anthology discs covering her popular recordimgs.
