They're pretty good for modern hardware -- they were pretty reasonably priced as well.

Personally, I (slightly) prefer the push-pull parallel EL84, stereo "Stingray", but I am, by and large, just not a big fan of EL34s. :(

So... you (the OP) don't know the saga of the late David Manley, EveAnna "Vanimal" Manley, and Manley Labs? You've missed so, so much.

    ;)

I'd Wish I could get my ears on these someday as they sell them up in Salina but I have reach a place where I happy with my setup and already know my next upgrade.

But they had always been on my wish list!

    all Italian stuff ;)
(Basically stealing Marvin's setup when he is not home)

but that is going to be awhile, as I currently running ModWright preamp and amplifier with Ushers.

I've always wanted a all "Manley Audio" setup.

I confess I do feel lust in my heart... :( I love the look of these things. And having done some research, I find the company fascinating. Really like their holistic approach to the craft.

my audio guru is a dealer and usually has them in stock. right now he's got the mahi mahi, stingray II and snapper's available....

That's cool -- FWIW, the ones I mentioned are not new but they're also much (much) less expensive than new. :|
  • stretchlstretchl Posts: 1,293
Yeah. There’s not s snowball’s chance in our anthropomorphically warming world that I could afford them new.

I will say that Manley's products strike me as quite reasonably priced for what they are. I think you can spend 10x the price of most of their components and get... well, probably not less -- but less robust construction.

I am a fan, even though I don't own a single piece of their equipment. :|

@stretchl - where are you reading about the company's story? I read their website and the "history" section was kinda short and not super detailed.

It's gorgeous, and I've got a lot (years!) of great use from it. Bought it from TroyD here several years ago.

Rich (SCompRacer) gave me an extended trial with his recapped Krell KSL a while back, and it seemed to play a bit better with my current setup (plus it has a phonostage), so I bought the Krell from him.

Here's what I found. You only get the first few graphs without paying $1.99 to access the entire article.
