    Having the DIN connector at the base of the tonearm pillar is definitely the most common configuration. In fact, I can't think of a make/model that has a DIN connector on the rear of the chassis. However, if it's been done, I would guess it would be a Scandinavian maker.

    Most modifications of turntable connections involve installing RCA sockets on the back, so that boutique cables can be used.

    Personally, I'd like to try configuring a true balanced connection that utilizes XLR cables B)
