Couple pairs of 12AU7 tubes FS

Still thinning the heard as I try and downsize my collection.

Early 50's - Ken Rad (GE) 5814, pewter/charcoal ladder plate, square getter on post, silver plate clips top and bottom. Probably the earliest known 5814 (12AU7 variant). These are simply superb tubes, not very common as they are often misidentified. Labels are pretty much gone, but there is no mistaking the construction/plate color. GE bought out Ken Rad in the late 40's, but kept producing tubes Ken Rad designed tubes into the early 50's.

These two passages pretty much sum it up for my experience as well.

"The sound is superb. Very dynamic and very detailed (but without any iciness). Great soundstage with practically perfect instrument placement. Superb tube!"

"I found this tube to sound similar to the rca blackplates only so much better. No veil on the highs, seems like they extend forever without a bit of fatigue. Mids are buttery and smooth. Female vocals rival the best mullards. Bass is best I’ve heard from a 12au7 variant. Not quite as much impact as the rca blackplates(def plenty) but better sub bass and extension. Attack and decay are amazing. Fast and clean. Very musical sounding tube."

1/pair - $75 plus shipping/insurance. Paypal friends and family or a check if I know you.

Early to mid 50's - CBS - Hytron JHY-5814. black ladder plate, square getter, silver plate clips on top plate tabs. Another of the great 5814's, these have a richness without being "fat sounding" that is hard to compare in other tubes. They just don't come close to making tubes like this anymore.

Some comments

Great sounding tube. I’s like good black coffee – fantastic balance, great depth, and a bit of sweetness that lingers in the back of your mouth. Great details and sound stage. Definitely one of the best tubes in 12au7 family – worth every penny.

The CBS sounds really, really good. I”m getting sold on these CBS tubes in a big way. Yes, balance….great dynamics…nice and smooth. , now I’m hearing it (and seeing it).

1/pair - $100 plus shipping/insurance. Paypal friends and family or a check if I know you.

4th of July Special...............I'll offer both pairs as a package deal for $150/plus shipping and insurance.

Let me know if you have any questions

I'm interested in the CBS Hytron's primarily. Just confirming a specific detail. If you are interested in the Ken Rad's by all means go for it.

Don and I are comparing notes on both pairs of tubes. He's first in line, but if he passes on either you are next in line Vmaxer.

1- pair and yes they are strong. I don't really do numbers since all testers are different. They are matched within 10-15%. Test results are from prior owners as I don't have a tester. These are my personal stash so they've all been listened to, etc.

Dave, that's why I didn't text you. Your Jolida doesn't use this style.

Within a reasonable amount of time if issues pop up, send them back and I'll issue a refund. Just trying to thin the heard and offer up some of the lesser known tubes to CP.
