Loudspeakers will virtually fall silent in Uttarakhand, thanks to the state high court.

In an order issued on Tuesday, the court told the government that the use of loudspeakers, even during day, will be contingent on the user giving an undertaking that the noise level will not exceed five decibels. The noise level of a pin falling on the ground is ten decibels. So is a person breathing.

Seems fair.

    My take is they aren't talking about audio speakers in a residence. They're talking about PA type loudspeakers used outside. I agree with their ruling 100%.

    I dunno Jesse, seems to me this place is a bit out in nowheresville. I'd also imagine cell phone service is sketchy if available at all.

    A P.A. speaker may be the only way to communicate.
