Can’t decide

Looking to purchase a new CD player in the next few weeks. It will be used strictly for CD’s, so streaming, files, SACD, DVD-A, etc are really limited concern.

Looking at the Marantz CD-6006 or HD-CD1, but can’t really decide, and may have overlooked something else out there.

As I plan on spending way to much money on a TV in the not to distant future, would like to keep this purchase around the $500 range, $750 absolute upper limit.

Appreciate any and all comments.

Would prefer new/refurbished, but would consider used.

For used, I'd look at a nice condition Marantz CD6004 - The made in Japan version, before they switched production to China. Personally, I love mine.

CD 6006 would be my choice between the two, it's not a compact like the HD CD1, plus 100 bucks less. You can't go wrong with a Marantz.

I’m a big fan of Yamaha’s AVR’s, and I spent some time researching their CD players. Seems they’re having some reliability issues, and from what I’ve read are doing little if anything to resolve them.

Maybe I’ll look into them a little further, because I’ve read only good things about sq with all their players.
