Alternate to CS400.

I'm going to setup the guest room/ kids game room, and will be using my RT800's for the mains. I can make the CS400 work, but curious if the CSi A6 would still be a good timbre match.

Reason is, trying to find a decent tv stand with a 9" opening is proving difficult for the middle shelf. Something along the lines of a Bell'O Triple play for comparison.

I could use it on the top shelf, but had other plans. Not a deal breaker to use the 400 but the A6 is a slimmer fit.

    The 250 uses I believe the 5 1/4" drivers, the 400 uses the same 6 1/2" as the RT800.

Also, CS245 or CS300, not the same size mid but the tweeters will timbre match.

Or, if you want the CC to more than keep up with the RT 800, go CS350. Only issue there is it's rather wide.

I don't think it will be a problem to go with an RTi5 or RTi A6. No, they are not prefectly matched, but there are similar in timbre and only voiced slightly differently (a little more forward with about a 5db boost at 5kh). They are great centers for HT, and if you have a receiver with a decent calibration program I doubt you will notice any discrepancy...

We always say biggest, baddest center you can go with...

I say go with your ears and the better sounding center. In one of the two HT I have, I am using a Martin Logan Motion 60XT as the center and its not matched to the LSi25 LR other than the nice gloss black finish but sounds 100x better than the LSiC. (I read the LSiC is better with an aftermarket crossover mod but at what gain?) The receiver with Audyssey multi xt32 handles the rest, level matching and equalization curves.
