You'll notice the new sub-forum that was added to the Off Topic forum.

Some unwritten rules now written:

1. If you would like to discuss politics, please do so in the Political Playground forum only.
2. If you are NOT interested in politics, please DO NOT post in that forum (in fact, you don't even have to LOOK at the thread titles).

If you are confused as to which forum you should be posting in, please email me and I will direct you to the proper forum.

Thanks,

~Justin

I agree with Faster and will say this is a bad idea. The nastiness will spill over into all other parts of the forum.

Another very reputable forum tried this not too long ago. It failed.

    I agree, bad idea.

I think it's a good attempt. We're seperating the 2 by taking what we don't want and making it's own place. The only problem is that politics and what comes of it has real world value. It affects each one of us on a personal level whether we're involved with it or not. That stuff is going to spill over to the rest of the forum and cause more problems, IMO. I don't know why we can't just get rid of it as has been suggested in the rules the majority of us have agreed to live by.

If i'm a Liberal I can still love talking audio with a Conservative, Libertarian, ect....because we're not getting into things of a real world value in a sense. I mean....whats more important....Freedom or a speaker? That's kind of what it comes down to. Those same 3 groups of people would get into some pretty heated arguments when talking politics and many people can't let the one go when talking about something completely unrelated. The bitter feelings still exist. So I think that it's best we get rid of that here.

I post on a political message board very avidly. That's what it's there for though. It's not for audio like this place is. In the best case scenario we'd all be able to talk politics here and be cilvil about it as in the rest of the forum, but it doesn't work like that.

I don't know why were letting one person dictate what the majority doesn't want...

***EDIT**** Didn't realize Ron edited and said pretty much the same thing. I agree with him.

I think it's a good idea AS LONG AS NO-ONE RESULTS TO NAME CALLING AND PERSONEL ATTACKS...

    Yeah, like that will happen...

Justin, I hope this works, but I doubt it...
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

I think everyone is making this a huge deal when it really isn't.

Everyone makes this board what they want it to be for themselves.

It's pretty easy not to participate in any post you don't want to, whether it be politics or knitting. It's all a personal choice.

Sorry, but it affects the atmosphere for everyone else. You're being a little short sighted here. Some people start threads and they end up getting hijacked because of the spats some people get into. Politics has been the biggest culprit here. That's just the reality. Unless you're going to have someone here vigorously enforcing the rules it's not going to get any better...

People need to know when to let it go.

Don't like a thread? Don't post to it. Infact, why read it? If someone hijacks your thread? Tell them to butt out. If it gets out of hand, that's when Justin comes into play.

Count me out of the tainted atmosphere group, this place is just fine in my books. I truly believe, you make it what you want. There are so many threads poping up here now that it's very easy to skip over a few.

Too bad it doesn't work like that.

That's my point....glad it does for you though. I don't think people are getting upset for no reason.

It's just pathetic that a certain few here think they can dictate what gets discussed in the "OFF TOPIC" forum. That's just pathetic!

These people just want to act like facist internet bullies. You can't play unless you play by their rules??? Just rediculus!

There's only one code of conduct here, and that's dictated by POLK.

People who don't like to post about current affairs and politics can just avoid the thread.

    Thanks Justin!

It's amazing that this is so hard to understand. Polk can (and has shown it will) MODERATE the content of this site. The folks who have spoken against the political rantings have stated they don't wish it here in this forum, so Justin has made a seperate forum for those who wish to "debate". It's actually pretty cool of him.

If you can't appreciate the fact that he is catering to both WANTS (for you could not ever possibly call it a need), then I guess you'll just have to suck it up like an adult and DEAL WITH IT!!!!!

It doesn't bother me at all. Now all the political ranters have their own place to rant. I will never go into it, and all the ranters have been placed on my ignore list.

Nobody can twist your arm to go into it to read it, just ignore it. If someone drags it into another area where it doesn't belong, report them.

    No big deal.

PS whoever it was that pointed out the ignore button to me:

    HOly shiat are y'all babies.......

If you can't recognize that by guiding idiots like Spyder into the political forum completely puts him out off your radar as being a good thing, you people have problems.

He (and the select few unfortunate enough to be like him) have been instructed to post NOTHING political related unless it's in the POLITICAL FORUM. Because I don't have any interest in reading his mentally deranged posts accusing me of being a Gustapo for telling him to shut his hole, I can watch thread after thread of his melt down to it's lowest common denominator.

THANK YOU JUSTIN, and GOOD-BYE SPYDER.......

perhaps your tactics are more like the SS?

You don't seem to realize how your name calling melts down each and every thread.

You don't seem to realize that telling someone what they can and can't say is not what this country is about.

I can accept Justin's pushing these conversations into the political forum because you people can't seem to handle a mature conversation about politics or current affairs.

Spyderman - Don't make a general assumption that you, or your comments or posts are disliked....I love these things....I just don't give a shite here. This is Polk man....not Bill O'Reilly.com....or Rush, or whomever....it's all wing driven eventually.

I think that thoughts and comments are always welcome, and that's great, but I myself don't base any kind of decision, politically.......on a forum. That would just be stupid....so why bother? Talk audio dude....what are you, born again?

If you are on a mission to "enlighten" the "masses", you have come to the wrong place....we just want our speakers to play music, and the amps to not overheat.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I have yet to see a post by you reflect this "maturity" that you seem to crave us using in dealing with you. By all means though spyder.......start the most mature political thread you want, but do it in your corner, not in here.....
