We went to McMenamin’s Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon yesterday to see their first summer concert. Heavy showers blew through the area and we had one drop nearly an inch on us while waiting in line. The concert was mostly rain free, however. It’s a very nice venue and well organized. The sound was nice and clear. We’ll definitely go again, but think twice about a June date.

Now about the concert. It was a a little walk down memory lane, both for the band and some of the audience of a certain age. Former band members and other musicians were shown in short videos between songs. The first set was pretty decent, I thought. My wife overheard someone say that his voice is shot. I wouldn’t go that far, but the guy is 70 after all. The second set definitely was a step down in the quality of the playing and singing. We left before it ended, mostly to beat traffic, but also because it was just not moving us anymore. If you are a Tull fan, you probably will want to catch this one, but just don’t have very high expectations.

Dug the heck out of that group during the first three albums they put out..By the time Aqualung was released,it was becoming pretty evident they were headed down the commercial trail...Do like Martin Barre's style of playing though..another one of rock music's underrated guitarists..
