Polk Magnifi mini to Computer

Hello Guys,

My computer specs -

gigabyte b150m d3h motherboard
Asus XonaR DG sound card
R9 390 Sapphire Gfx card
Lg 27ud68p 4k monitor .

Issue -
I am unable to play 5.1 surround from the optical port of my xonar dg , i can play only 2ch sound from it. Do i need to upgrade my sound card or should i get some amp or DAC or anything else which will give me good 5.1 surround from magnifi mini . I heard that only HDMI ARC port connected to sound bar will produce 5.1 from it. But i doubt if my monitor or graphic card has it.

I am very much tired of finding perfect connections for perfect sound from this card.
I plaanned to get sound blaster z , but it is more for gaming and not movies , kindly suggest me the best setup only for movie and music .

Is it possible your sound card only plays 5.1 surround through the headphones?

Otherwise open the soundcard options and look for output settings. I can choose, stereo,quadraphonic,5.1 or7.1output.
