Did I just step on my dinky by picking one up for a bill?
I hear they can be modded as well...

That’s still a great integrated, especially for that price.

Oh good, I was worried there for a minute.

The 3490 is stellar, so if the 80 is close, then I’d say a good buy.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A

From what I can tell, the 90 has XM radio and the 80 doesn't. So for 2 channel they're essentially identical. This is looking better and better

I've owned both. Good solid inexpensive stero receivers.

It's important to keep perspective, the 3480 will best most options up to about $300 but stepping even up to $500 gets you into another class of performance. I'd say at $300 or less it's a great option, at $200 or less it's a no brainer...just don't go in expecting miracles as it's not a giant killer or anything.

Then it's perfect for the kitchen and 5JR+s

I bought an HK3480 from another polkie here awhile back. It's an excellent 2ch receiver. The 3490 incorporates digital connections, the 3480 only utilizes analog, but it's a beast at 125wpc.
I got mine powering a pair of TL2 Blackstones and a vintage, Pioneer SW700 subwoofer pulling bedroom duty. A Yammie S1800 universal and 30gb Ipod for sources and it rocks.
The FM section works well also if you hook it up to a decent antenna. I got a cheap pair of rabbit ears from the Rat Shack that works just fine. 100 bucks is a good deal. I paid Ryan 150.00 for mine, IIRC.
