It's just another excuse to go hang out at my favorite place. Like always live music, crowds fellow enthusiasts to hang with. I'm going for a couple of Bowie's, and the Allman Brothers live at the Atlanta pop festival, plus 15% off normal stock. The craft brewery across the street is where a lot of us will end up having a brew and checking out what everyone ended up getting in the big rush. Who's going what you getting and what's the game plan to get the ones you want?

    Just skimmed the the list. There are a few indie/prog/alt albums I wouldn't mind. Catherine Wheel's got one, as well as The Sundays' debut release. An interesting one from Brian Eno and Kevin Shields (from My Bloody Valentine) probably going to be beautifully noisy. Buffalo Tom, and last but not least, Sound Garden.

    This will be our local shop's 2nd annual event. Missed the 1st one so not sure what to expect. It's a small store so if it's really crowded I'll prolly be back another time. Don't have anything in mind except a few obscure ones that he prolly won't have, like Captain Beyond.

    Won't have time to get to Amoeba (my usual shop) but some more local will hopefully have a few that would be nice pickups for me. Good Rats, Son Volt and Miles Davis on the wish list.
    Want to participate as time permits, to keep the momentum going with vinyl. Love my SACDs and ALAC library, but I'll never outgrow my love for vinyl.

    If your not interested on anything on the list, then just go in later, most of the stock stuff is on sale at most places, but if your interested on stuff that is on the list go early and expect a crowd.

    A first edition release of Captain Beyond on Capricorn records is about as rare as hens teeth...have seen it on CD from time to time though...good luck on that one..

    I forget how this works, how do you know whether your local RS will have the albums you want, and/or how many of each? Did you guys already call ahead?

    Not a chance. It would take something really special to me to get me to deal with being sardine'd in with this many total strangers and waiting in line forever. Even then I'd rather pay a bit of scapler mark up, as long as it was reasonable, and just buy it online afterwards.

    I didn't even know about this till late last night when i read the post. Thank you for posting. I was lucky and only about 30 or so folks at the event when i showed up shortly after opening. Picked up a few items.

    The two cd's were actually a bonus for me. I saw both of those shows. Yes was down in Mass and Black Sabbath was at Mohegan Sun casino. Two really good shows. Thanks again for posting the info.

    I went to our local store, got a $10 gift cert for being one of the 1st 50, struggled with the crowd for about 15 minutes and then split. I'm not sure if they got anything special in for the event, but I couldn't find them. I'll go back on a normal day and spend my $10+.
