Yup, they appear to be compact stereo speakers of yore -- and not particularly stellar examples of the genre at that.

Now -- it's possible that the 'extended range' drivers in 'em might be fun and good for something... but the prognosis is guarded at best.

"Likely not worth the gas" is apt. If they're really close... maybe. Maybe.

    ... but probably not.

I dunno -- finely chopped, the cabinets might make good fire-starting material.
If I were to do that, I would pull out the drivers and see if they had any redeeming qualities. They might.

Which reminds me -- I've always wondered, what is the gerund (or is the participle, for that matter) form of the word lightning?

    You know:

-- is it lightninging outside? or is it making lightning? or what?
  • Viking64

I would be safe and go with "there is lightning outside".

Although, I refuse to be safe and put punctuation at the end of a sentence in quotes if only the last word (or phrase) of that sentence is in quotes. :p

I’d say don’t go for it. They may be fun to play around with, but probably not worth the drive.

    lol....put down the bong gents.

You don't need a lot of money for speakers, if that's your concern. CL is loaded with them, in working condition for under 100 bucks.

    https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/ele/d/alesis-point-seven-pair-of/6538414549.html

....and if 65 bucks has you strapped, your best to re-think your involvement in audio. :)

That "period inside or outside the close quotation mark" is the stuff of doctoral dissertations (and/or bar fights).

Is lightning singular or plural -- a collective noun, perhaps?

    ahem.

That's TENZINGers in a row for you. You're neither stupid NORGAY. As far as Sir Edmund Hillary, there must be a Blackadder/political joke in there somewhere, but like little Johnny said: "I ain't gonna get slapped."

(Notice the use of the colon to facilitate avoiding the dreaded punctuation/quote dilemma.)
