A great entertainer. Did Quinn Sullivan open? His induction into the Kennedy Center Honors was well done....loved Beth Hart/Jeff Beck.

Yeah, he's great. I was just listening last night to a Junior Wells Chicago Blues Band album from about 1964, and Buddy Guy is the guitarist in the band - just outstanding playing at that time. I've seen him in concert several times. He had a young kid with him a few years ago, and Buddy talked too much but still brought home the goods big time. The Rolling Stones love him, everybody loves him. Used to see him play at his club in Chicago back in the roughly late 70's or early 80's I think it was.

Saw Buddy in the late 80's in Tampa, he's a great entertainer. And an amazing guitar player as well - I remember back then Clapton was questioned "who's the greatest guitar player?" - EC's answer - "living or dead? - Living? Buddy Guy". Yikes!

Side note, Buddy was drinking water glasses (OK rocks glasses) of Courvoisier (at least 5) and still playing like a madman. I bumped into him when he walked of stage to get another at one point - "hey man - sorry bout that!". Cool dude.

I've seen him twice, 2015 and 2017. He's an original for sure. One of my favorite blues players.

Yeah, the 2015 show was more enjoyable. 2017 he was definitely slurring a bit. 2017 he did more talking than playing which kind of annoyed me. Overall the 2015 show was the better performance. Both were at the same theater.

I'm glad I got to see him, but I probably won't go see him again.

Next on my list is Jeff Beck. I need to see him before he hangs it up.

He's passed through these parts a few times, he had the same shirt on last two times I've seen him. Been to Buddy's Legends in Chicago a couple of times he's one of the best. Looks like you had a good time. Live Music lives!

    For sure.
The Eccles family just finished a new theater downtown for Live music and touring Broadway shows. Great place to have close.

He once said that an ex-wife caught him playing around while on the road and the 1.5 hrs on stage was the easy part.

I've seen him multiple times. Talks too much and often doesn't finish playing the song, but while he is playing it's magic.

I agree, one of my favorite blues guitarists. When he plays, it's magic. I have some older concert/live recordings and he IS the man.

I also enjoy much of the stuff he did with Junior Wells. Alone and Acoustic is a favorite.

He used to be a regular when we had Rib America Fest (Blues and BBQ festival held here for like 7 years).

I would make it a point to go grab Chicago Rib Company's ribs and listen to Buddy Guy each year. Unfortunately, Jesse is correct...amazing when playing...a bit lackluster when talking.

I see Buddy Guy is closing out the Blues Tent as headliner the last weekend of Jazzfest in New Orleans next weekend. This weekend John Mayall is the headliner in the Blues Tent on Sunday night. I saw Mayall close out the Blues Tent about 3 or 4 years ago at Jazzfest and I think he was about 80 at that time and he brought the whole place to a gigantic standing ovation for nearly the whole show. Both of those guys have phenomenal stamina for 80-somethings. Just remarkable how many shows each of them still plays every year.

I mentioned in a previous post that Buddy Guy is closing out Jazzfest in the Blues Tent, but John Mayall closed out the first weekend yesterday. One of my buddies sent me a photo of Mayall from Bluesfest and he is really looking old. Still bringing down the house in his 80's, tho.
