Difference between fx500 and 1000
From the recent vintage products guide the fx1000 stated the crossover was "2nd order LPF @ 2kHz, 2nd order HPF @ 2kHz, Mylar film capacitors used throughout".
Is the 500 something different?
also since the 1000 has an additional 6.5" driver I would imagine that would be a huge benefit in a large room but what about something in a mid sized room? Would the 1000 be overstated in something less than large so we would have to back off the gain for the surrounds?
I am so used to my 55i's that it will be tough for me to get used to 500's I think. They are really cool though and sound very nice.

The 55's are great but I would think they MIGHT be a little too directional for sides ...
How 'bout moving them to the rear and using fx500's or 1000's for the sides ? -

I actually have a 400 center for the rear that I will install pretty soon. I think the 55's would actually be wasted in rear duty but I may be wrong. I ran my RTA8T's in rear 7.1 and actually like it but it was temperary due to the WAF.
Right now the 500's are about 3' behind the listening position where the 55's were and they sound good but I'm not sold yet.

Now that I have mosters up front I was actually looking at some 3000p's the other day for rear duty ... LOL ... wonder if wifey would notice them ... LOL
