Thinking about trying a 4K movie

I got a 4k player and just got a small 4k TV. Is there a cheap movie out there that would demonstrate 4k to old 720p eyes? I don't really care what it is but is it possible to be awed by 4k visuals on like a 40"? I also see some 4k selections on Amazon streaming but I have not tried it because my DSL bites.

That is one of the few I would like to see. That would probably look cool a lot of chops and shanks flying I would imagine.

I pick it up yesterday from VUDU, along with Blade Runner 2049. I tried to watch all of 2049 but I had to give up around 10pm, just not enough action to keep me awake.Family Room HT 7.2/i]:Vizio Oled55h1 Pioneer Elite SC-LX502 Pioneer Elite BDP 85FD Eversolo DMP A6 Panamax M5300-EXSpeakers Fronts Fluance XF8L Center Polk Audio S35 Side Surrounds Fluance bipolar Rear Surrounds FluanceXF8 Bookshelf Subs SVS PB4000 x2 Living room 2ch: Crown Xli 1500 amp x2, Teac EQ MKII FX Audio X6 Mk II DAC Squeezebox Touch Fluance Signature Tower Speakers Panamax M5100-EXOffice media room:Vizio M50Q6 50" Pioneer Elite VSX LX301 Eversolo DMP-A6 Polkaudio R600 Towers Polkaudio Center R300 Panamax M4300 Monoprice 12" subMaster bedroom:Vizio M55Q7 Pioneer Elite VSX LX302 Pioneer Elite BDP 85FD Squeezebox Touch Fluance Signature Bookshelf fronts, Rears Fluance Signature Bipolar Polk Audio CS10 center Monoprice 12" sub Panamax M5300-EX

It should be able to up convert a Blu-ray, but I wouldn't expect much from a dvd.
To really enjoy a 4k tv, you need to feed it a true 4k source, and the player must be a 4k player, not the cheaper Blu-ray w/ up conversion to "4k" -
I hear Planet Earth 2 4K UHD Bluray is up there.
The thing is a lot of the 4K UHD Bluray discs out today are actually shot in less than 4K resolution and then upscaled so they're not actually native 4K. It'd be similar to taking standard Redbook audio CD then upscaling it and putting it on a SACD. You have to look for the films that are actually shot in 4K or 6K.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

It looks like that's a standard Bluray player, it won't be able to play 4K UHD Bluray's.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

40" is bigger than mine
Just asking 4k in 4k out...
Just shop bargain bin's...read the tiny words on the back, it will disclose formats
Should be some after Xmas liquidation sales...or find used online or at local stores

Ron it's a Samsung - 40" Class - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD TV. I prety much only turn it on when I sleep.

But you asked about 4k movies...
I don't own a 4k TV or player, but have been through many demos even before 4k moves were released on disc/downloads
Sound decoding is pretty much the same, the video is much better.2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures

No more 5.1 in the dungeon, just the TV speakers.

IMHO the 4K advantage is less in increased resolution, but more due to expanded color space and HDR. Since your Samsung is smart tv, you can get a good demo from many 4K HDR clips on YouTube.-izafar

@afterburnt drop the Sony you have and pick up a ubp-x800, that will allow you to take advantage of you TV. I have one and it's nice but not the end all be all.
But really the only reason to look at 4k content is if your screen is HDR compatible, so be sure of that before looking for content. -
Dunkirk From VUDU 4k HDR10
watching it now, the dog fighting scenes are impressive, the beach scenes are good. More detail in resolution, my FD85 upconverts very close and may be a bit better in color depth, but that's a disk vs streaming.Family Room HT 7.2/i]:Vizio Oled55h1 Pioneer Elite SC-LX502 Pioneer Elite BDP 85FD Eversolo DMP A6 Panamax M5300-EXSpeakers Fronts Fluance XF8L Center Polk Audio S35 Side Surrounds Fluance bipolar Rear Surrounds FluanceXF8 Bookshelf Subs SVS PB4000 x2 Living room 2ch: Crown Xli 1500 amp x2, Teac EQ MKII FX Audio X6 Mk II DAC Squeezebox Touch Fluance Signature Tower Speakers Panamax M5100-EXOffice media room:Vizio M50Q6 50" Pioneer Elite VSX LX301 Eversolo DMP-A6 Polkaudio R600 Towers Polkaudio Center R300 Panamax M4300 Monoprice 12" subMaster bedroom:Vizio M55Q7 Pioneer Elite VSX LX302 Pioneer Elite BDP 85FD Squeezebox Touch Fluance Signature Bookshelf fronts, Rears Fluance Signature Bipolar Polk Audio CS10 center Monoprice 12" sub Panamax M5300-EX
