Polk satellites to rti8 towers?
I was thinking about upgrading from the excellent RM6600 sub/sat system to a larger speaker system. Due to price and what I have read about polk's new RTi models, I will most likely want to get the Rti8's, fxi3, and csi3 system. But there are two things preventing that. One, my 6600 set is still fully functional and I don't know what I'll do with them. I have nobody to give them to and I don't want them to go to waste. Most people I've spoke to said to use Ebay, but I'm weary of it and never used it before. So I'm trying to see if there are any other options. It's frustrating how as fast as the technology is advancing, there is no way to trade-in or upgrade your system beyond a year like say with videogames and movies. So I feel sort of stuck. Second, I'm not sure if the difference in sound will really be worth it. I mean, I have a pretty large room right now where my system is (about 20'x15'x10'), but the sateliites are adequate with my Onkyo reciever. However, sometimes it's annoying that with music in particular, I don't have much midrange and at higher volumes, the sound loses it's "ommph" (and I do have a 12" sub). Would it be worth it? Can anyone offer me advice?

Going from the 6600 to the RTi8 system will be a huge upgrade for you. Go for it! As for ebay, if you are the seller, it's pretty hard to get screwed since they will send you the money before you ship the product. Or as an alternative, you could post them for sale in the Club POlk flea market.

If you really want to sell them but don't feel comfortable with ebay post them here and see what happens. If you can sell them than good, if not than go to plan B.Front

Thanks for the input. I think what I will do for now is buy the Rti8's with the CSi3 to upgrade my frontstage (since that's like 80% of a typical soundtrack anyaway). This is to save money and also have time to get used to and tune my system with the new larger speakers. In the meantime, I will have 4 of the RM2300 satellites for my surrounds. I have two questions about this:
1) Will this sound ok b/c i don't think they will be timbre matched since they are a completely different line of speakers?
2) Will those front speakers dominate my soundstage to the point where no customization with the reciever and levels can fix?
The reason I have to do this is because I currently have my speakers wall mounted directly and no wall can hold the Rti4's or the fxi3 (my two surround options). And it's a little too much right not to buy the mounts and install them and buy the new surrounds? Any feedback?
