Ya there is a picture of one of these on the McGowan site.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Yep. Polk's "sub" before the sub craze really took over. (A craze yes, but a very useful and fun craze!)

    "Before they went mainstream"?

    WTF?

What is it with all these buttmonkeys all over the place bashing "mainstream" like it's some kind of higher calling to enjoy things that are not mainstream or it's a mortal sin to endorse a "mainstream" company, band, person or whatever? I don't get people. Why does there have to be some lame-brained ideal behind everything? Why can't we just enjoy something for the sheer fact that we enjoy it? Further more, why do those who like "mainstream" things have to endure the constant squawking and abuse of those who are "fighting the man" or "ragin' against the machine"?

And what is this McGowan site I keep seeing discussed?

It's actually an RTA 12 minus the tweeter and xover assembly.

    Cheers,

The picture of the one on the McG SDA site was Bob McG's. He never spoke highly of it, and I think he had it for historical purposes only.

Sometimes products suffer a little quality-wise after a company goes 'mainstream'.

Actually the seller said, "... went main streem." Which is far more complimentary than "mainstream". :D
