90# speakers and soft foam and plastic, just how did you anticipate this would not end as it did? Those spikes worked 100% as they were supposed to, punching through carpet and foam padding to get to the floor underneath.

How tall are the spikes ?
You can probably lay 2 2x4's or 2x3's cut to 15" long. Put them on their 1 1/2" sides on the dolly facing the speakers with them spread till they hit the spikes or just inside of them. There might be a 1/16" clearance on top of the 2x4 or 2x3. The speakers will tilt almost instantly when you tilt the dolly back.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
