Opinions please....Which sub would do justice in a HT/MUSIC system with bookies. My subwoofer experience is lacking these days. Don't throw out SVS as they are out of the ballpark.

I used to own a Velodyne

The front firing CHt-10 would be my vote

I have had this sub for quite some time but I really enjoyed my Mirage FRX-S10 when I had the RT800's as my main speakers. Not boomy at all and paired well for music. Also had plenty of punch for HT when properly placed.

24 by 26....hence my concern on too small a sub. Larger sized sub and less watts, or smaller sub with bigger power Like a Def tech or Sunfire JR.

The Velo cht-10 I'm pretty sure would do fine for music, the HT side though, it may have trouble in a room that big.

If it's one sub for everything, I would go smaller sub with more power every time. Of the options you listed, I'd do the CHT-10. What's your budget?

All the subs I mentioned can be had for around 100 bucks, I can go 200 maybe. Which is why I said SVS is out.

Also saw a Mirage ps-12-90, which gets good reviews but I'm skeptical of bigger woofers and weak power, spells muddy bass notes to me.

This one came up, but Def tech subs are usually either people love 'em or hate 'em.

The Piano Black would match the speakers though.

I have the smaller SC3 in the home office. Pretty amazing for its size, but the room's just 11ft square. I just checked to see what level it's at - around 1pm on the volume knob, so, pushing it a bit. Put me in the love-it camp.

SC2 would be even better, and I think it was not affected by the amp issues the SC3 had.

Got any used HSUs in the area?
The STF-2 might be an available good bang-for-buck. Doesn't have the extra tuning options of the higher level series subs, and may be a little loose for you, but it can pressurize an 11x15 space with room to spare at just the 10 o'clock volume position.

    Coupla thoughts.
    I disabled signatures.

Maybe look for a used Velo Impact 12? Good reviews for both music and HT.

Honestly Tony, the Chicago market is ripe with flipping potential. Might not be a bad time to play that market if you can. Craigslist right now is where the DFW list was about 4 years ago. Everything has dried up in these parts.

Indeed it is Skip, I'm looking for direction from sub users so I can weed out the sloppy/slow or muddy sounding ones.

    The criteria is,
    Movie /music use
Room size of 24 by 26
Smaller size due to placement issues.

.....and of course budget around 200...maybe 3 if I push it some.

While that is a very nice deal and would make a great office or bedroom sub, it is TINY and -6db@32, not exactly what @tonyb is looking for to fill his large room. Someone else, however, might want to jump on this deal!
