could you run a passive sub like the svs 25-31 cs with a receiver? could you run it with the B amp of a receiver? i know it wouldnt be the most optimal performance but it would work right? i think i have a seperate B amp in my receiver but im not completely sure. how would i find out?

you could but you wouldn't want to for very long. Chances are the sub will be 4 ohms and most receivers can't handle that load, especially when the sub is digging deep for those low notes! A receiver would probably have the hardest time driving the 25-31, and the easiest time driving the 16-46. Because, I think, the larger the enclosure the more efficient the sub gets. Doc may have to correct me on that, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works and that's why small sealed subs need all that power to dig deep.
