Clubbing baby seals is all class. May those that club find their babies clubbed, too. Might help with their 'perspective.'

I've seen them get clubbed on TV once and it made me sick. The guy hit the animal once, it didn't die and began to scream, then he hit it again. There was blood everywhere. The poor seals were helpless.

I'd love to club him, his mother, father and all the other f#ckers related to him.

    Would I do it? NO.

How is different from any other hunt or livestock kill?

Contrary to what L&C said, they're not hunting pups.

It isn't...other than that they get the 'cute' label attatched to them.

We cull the deer herd here in WI every year. Don't see a difference other than that we shoot the deer rather than club them....although bow season is also in order...which doesn't always kill the animal at first strike.

People need to set the cute and emotional crap aside and ask themselves what kind of hypocrites they'd be if they use any type of animal product in their daily lives and are so outraged about this. I'm middle of the road on the whole clubbing thing, but as you said DC, I'm not doing it so I don't let it bother me.

I first met my wife, the former Theresa Talamonti, on a seal clubbing expedition.

Ah, she was young, and trying to "find herself" as we used to call it. Little did she know then, that she would prosper in adulthood as a slave trader.

Not because they're cute or anything. Those guys beat the living crap out of the seals until they die. That's turture. Why not just a gun shot to the head? I'll never forget the way the seal looked and screamed at the guy while being clubbed.

Sealers use a variety of tools to harvest seals. Ninety per cent of sealers on the ice floes on the Front (in the waters east of Newfoundland), where the majority of the hunt occurs, use approved rifles. Sealers in the Magdelen Islands (Gulf of St. Lawrence) and on Quebec’s Lower North Shore traditionally use clubs or hakapiks. First Nations and Inuit also tend to use hakapiks in the subsistence hunt. A hakapik is an efficient tool designed to kill the animal quickly.

Read through the link I provided earlier. It goes through all aspects of the hunt.

We all have the image of a pup seal being beaten to death. We live in a different day and age and if the seals we're being killed in a inhumane way, it wouldn't happen.

So many laugh until it's their own soft gut, or their own family member's soft gut, that gets walloped. God can't be proud, but if He is, than he's clearly an idiot, too. ;>]

Only an idiot would equate a seal to a human. That kinda thinking rubs me the wrong way. ;>]

    Damn! It's this weekend?

Hey DCarlson, my hakapik is in the shop, would you happen to have some Bose cubes or something I can borrow? How's about I jump on the skidoo and we motor up to the event? We can pick up some elderly on our way and set them adrift on the iceflows while we're at it.

    regards

    Dave
