Do I need a new DAC for Hi-rez DL's?

I'm currently using a 15 y.o. Creative Labs 24 bit external sound card, that I paid $30 for. I'm really liking the sound quality of Super Hi-Rez DSD recordings over at A.S.
My question: Do I NEED to upgrade, just to play the DSD 2.8Mhz files? I can hear the samples just fine, but will the files I download come through?
(They sound fine right now, so...?)

TIA
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

Short answer is yes. What your hearing is most likely a down sampled version of the file.
