I want to thank you for all the advice you gave me. It really helped me to choose my new amp.
I bought the marrantz 7200 (against you guys advice according to my poll ), threw everything i could at it (even multi room) and i concluded that it didnt meet my expectations.
Dont get me wrong, the sound quality is great (although it doesnt play loud enough and it seems that the receiver has a hard time dishing all those 105 watts in 5.1 and 6.1 formats.
I tried all the setups possible. Thats all i did for 3 days.
No discrete 6.1 sound format didnt help also. This amp couldnt settle me down for the next 5 years since they are introducing 8.1 formats in the near future. I could get more sound out of my old, less powerfull kenwood VR-2080 !
So i became a salesman worst nightmare; i returned to the store with my marrantz box and said: i dont want it.
I'm still young to own all this stuff so the salesman thought that i just didnt know what i was talking about. He asked what kind of speakers and TV i had........... you should have seen his expression when i told him that i had a HDTV running with RT2000's and F/X1000's. He was like...oh i see. I guess he thought that i had proaudio's or something (have you ever heard of this company). Then we kind of debate over the fact that the 7200 didnt have 6.1 discrete channels. When he finally realized that i was right i started dealing with him to get a denon 3802 in exchange. The 3802 was priced at 1900 CAN $. I got it for 1800 CAN $ , taxes included (which add up to 15% here) WITH the extended 5 years warranty( about 150$ for an objet of that value) !! How sweet is that deal. Oh , and i dont have to pay for the next 3 months........ AAAAAAahhhhhh, life is good.
About the denon now. So far, it's doing real good. Sound quality is just as good as the 7200 if not better. This thing has POWER !!!! Holy crap can it shake walls !!! I dont see what the fuss about the remote is. It is quite easy to use.
But i've had it for a couple of hours only so far.
Now i have a couple of questions.
1-should i set my F/X1000's to large or small ?
2-is there a way to diminish the bass that comes out of the mid's without doing the same to the 2 woofers that the 2000's have ? Cuz those mids REALLY shake a lot sometimes and i dont feel too good about that.
3-Does the speaker warranty cover speakers that have been played too loud and have been damage from it ? Because they are suppose to shut down before that happens right ?
And again, thanks

I think the 3802 is a good choice. The reviews I've seen of the Marantz 7200 confirm that it is a little weak in multichannel power.
I don't have direct experience with the f/x1000's, but they are large enough speakers to do a reasonable job with bass, and therefore could be set to "large". I'd suggest that you set them to small, listen for a while, then switch to large. See if you can hear an advantage to setting them to "large". If not, go back to small. Doing so would lighten the load on your reciever a little bit.
As for playing speakers too loud: It IS possible to damage them. I don't believe any of your Polks have fuses or other protection circuits, but things like that usually only help if the speakers are being driven with an amp that is substantially MORE powerful than your reciever. They should be able to take what the Denon dishes out, as long as you're not overdriving it. If you hear distortion from the amp, or speaker cones bottoming-out, turn it down! Clean power won't generally hurt the speakers. Trying to play an amp beyond it's capability is MUCH more likely to cause speaker problems.
Good luck, and enjoy your new equipment!
