SS Amp

Looking for a nice SS amp w/some balls to go with the Maggie MMG's. I'm hoping that a better quality amp will get my interest piqued again. I haven't made up my mind but I'll be selling either my Parasound HCA 1205A or the B&K ST 1430 to help fund it so if there's interest there let me know. Can be any number of channels.

I'd like to stay south of $800.

The McCormack I have listed in the FM has more balls than ANY amp I've owned. If i wasn't going deep in the tube rabbit hole I'd never part with it. Can't give it high enough praise.
  • The only thing that comes to mind are
    Bryston 7B-STs or a Benchmark AHB2.
Not gonna find them in you budget though. :/

    Thanks for replies so far.

The Adcoms: One too pricey and the other wouldn't be a step up from the B&K or Parasound I have. Thank you both, though.

    I'm thinking/researching the others.

Too many hoarders around here? :)

Just noticed that I need to update my sig. :(

I'm hoping that spending a decent amount on an amp will get me back into the game and bring out the best in the Maggie's. I've never really spent much before on an amp, it's always been either in the pre or cables. I currently have a Jolida Fusion pre.

I have a Adcom 5802 that I would part with for $800.00. Don't really want to ship it though, are you near SE WI?

McCormack, Belles, would be my vote. though 8 bones is a bit on the light side to spend for a good amp.

Are you married to those Maggies ? Just askin', might be better to keep your amps and switch speakers.

I think he's been trying to move the speakers for awhile. I was interested and working on setting up a demo before running into my GoldenEars. Dave was very gracious and willing to work with me.

I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised how much difference an amp makes... there are two great ones on hear I would be thinking about - the previously mentioned McCormack (admitted fanboy here) and the Marsh - never heard it, great rep. Just IMO.

For MUCH less than your budget, I've got a PS Audio Delta 100 and a B&K EX-442 available. With the B&K, I also have a PT5 preamp to go with it.
