Should you expect the CD layer of an SACD to be better than the regular CD?

I don't have tons of SACD's but most of them overlap. Thus the question.

    It depends on whether the SACD digital version is the same as the CD. If the SACD CD version is a different mastering then they aren't the same. It is also possible some SACD circuitry used to play a CD will be different from the pure CD version. So, if the mastering is better, and the playback is better then the SACD CD should be better than the CD version.

    Thanks, Bud, I don't get enough critical listening time these days and I try to fit the best versions on the limited space of my laptop when I travel. But I have not had the time to just listen. God willing I will have a pretty decent setup at my other place and I just want to have some method to sort through the duplicate versions.
